hulu. Nice source for tv episodes for free.

So I just now got into the hulu.com beta. It's the new "youtube" for network tv shows. Similar to Viacom's thedailyshow.com, Hulu offers a ton of shows such as the Office, SNL clips, Arrested Development and any other show that you could think of.

So far it's pretty sweet because you can find the rareist of clips and it's all for free. Just every now and then a little add pops up in the lower right hand corner. Now, enjoy a SNL clip that can only be found on hulu and the season 3 dvd of SNL.

Sonic enters the Brawl!!

Sonic the Hedghog has been named a character on the highly anticipated Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Nintendo Wii. The video on http://www.smashbros.com/ shows a finishing move for Sonic that transforms him into Super Sonic!
This news comes as the release date has been changed from December 3rd to the dreaded TBD.

Nintendo has been releasing a whole bunch of information on it's games today. They announced that the price for Wii fitness will be around 75 dollars. They also announced the introduction of 2 new channels:

Mii Contest Channel - This is where you can show off your best Mii's that you've made in the past year.

Everybody's Nintendo Channel - Here you can check out new DS games and download DS demos.

The Channels will come out sometime in November.

Another real cool Wii announcement is the Wii Ware program. This is like the virtual console, except the games you download will not be ports of previous games. Titles expected to be released when it first comes out are

Some sad news on the Wii front include a delay on the release of Mario Kart for the Wii. Originally it was suppose to come out in the first quarter of 2008, now it is slated for a Spring 2008 release.

KoF fans?

Has anyone noticed yet how much I love The King of Fighters? Well, right now I'm a little pissed that the U.S. ports of KoF XI and NeoGeo Battle Coliseum each got delayed like an extra month. Here we go again. I think I'm starting to enjoy living in Japan again. Sure, I've already owned each of these games for a year, year-and-a-half here in Japanese and unlocked everything the day I got 'em, but I need something to keep me busy until KoF '98 Ultimate Match comes out here!

45 characters PLUS 19 EX versions = a total of 64 playable characters with unique movesets, 13 of which are completely new additions. That's gotta be some kinda record for a 2D fighter. The additions they've made in this remake include:

Geese, Krauser, Mr. Big,
Eiji, Kasumi, Goenitz, Orochi,
Orochi Iori, Orochi Leona,

and new EX versions of King, Mary, Yamazaki, and Geese.

Remember that time I cosplayed as Geese for Halloween back in like '03? So do you think I might be a little excited about the addition of 2 new Geese's to this remake!?!? I think so.

They're even adding new stages, color edit (where you can even color edit fireballs. Did I mention 8 colors per character plus 2 edits?), and new moves for some old characters. I guess Benimaru's supposed to be getting some lightning breakdance super. Nice!

Still no official release date. Maybe by the end of the year. I'm gonna go off on a little tangent now and complain about Mega Man ZX Advent for DS getting delayed again. I'm just as big a Mega Man fan as I am a KoF fan and I find this news just as frustrating. Probably all they're doing is TAKING OUT all the Japanese voice acting and probably not even bothering to redub (as they did with its predecessor). Weak.

Do I get Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for PS2 or do I finally cave in and buy a Wii? If girlfriends weren't so expensive, this would be a much easier decision... but I know for sure that I WANNA do the latter. Of course that'd mean I'd have some catching up to do: Wario Ware, Zelda, Paper Mario, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, and Smash Bros., among others.

But maybe I'll just wait it out. The last DBZ BT 2 already had 130 characters (and I bought it here cuz I just couldn't wait any longer) and it was good, but with like 150 guys reported in this sequel it really looks like they're just scraping the bottom of the barrel. Now I swear by these games, but I think maybe I'll just be a little patient and maybe wait this one out, for once; especially because I know this game'll never become that difficult to find and the price may even drop massively even by the time I come back to visit. Such are the laws of DBZ games.

And that's my rant for now. Had a lot pent up since I haven't really bought a game in maybe over half a year! That's scary, but in a matter of weeks I'll be playing Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and FF Tactics' PSP remake! Oh yeah, and I'll be in town from 12/20-30.

TEAM FORTRESS FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! FREE CLIENT

On Tuesday, I learned about a new Team Fortress Source called Team Fortress Forever. I have been a rabid TF since the conception as a Quake 1 mod. Team Fortress takes us back to the roots and appears to be an updated version of the Half Life mod. The graphics and textures are extremely impressive, with a lot of attention to detail. I told my friends if I would have made this mod with a team, it would not have these beautiful layers and textures.

The great news is the client mod was released today! TF-F was scheduled to go live on Sept. 17th, but Valve being the great business men they are decided they needed to take action to keep the cash flowing with Orange Box pre-orders. Valve decided to make an announcement hours after the release date of TF-F that Team Fortress 2 will be playable to pre-order Steam Customers on Sept. 17th. A direct move to remove the "Steam" from the release date of the free mod.

The development team of TF-F played a trump card and one-up'd Valve at their own game and released the game today. A valiant move imo, and I am excited to support them!

New iPods!

Pretty new iPods are going to available soon! Apple just released them. They look pretty sweet.

The iPod touch is the new iPod based off the iPhone. Largest capacity is 16gb and it can surf the web and download songs directly off the internet from iTunes. Starting at $299, the price is still pretty steep and I don't plan on getting one until the next generation comes out and they expand the capacity and lower the price (like they always do)

If you don't want the new iPod, there are remakes of the old classic. iPod classic now is available in a monster 160gb model! That's an estimated 40,000 songs! Also they ditched the plastic face and went with all metal. Also the interface has changed to add some of the new features that iTunes has such as the album flip and album artwork as you're flipping through the songs.

Want something a little smaller? Well there's the new iPod nano Video. This little guy is half the size of an original iPod and comes in two storage sizes. 4gb and 8gb. And they come in different colors!

i have been downloading some games all night on my corncast internet connection, and it is legal! These games have advertising in the game, allowing the publisher to release them free of charge. I am not sure how fishy the advertising is, but there is not supposed to be any spyware. I am going to check the install and post install for spyware anyways.

EA Games is celebrating the Command & Conquer Franchise by giving out the game that started the franchise free. It is 2 discs. One for the good guys GDI and one for the bad guys NOD. I played through this on my pentium 120 gateway computer a long time ago and love the game. I can't remember how many times I played against my buddy KrazyIvan thru our 14.4kbs modems. Try it out and feel the nostalgia!

Make sure you read the install notes, b/c this game was built on 16 bit architecture and requires you to make a couple of easy changes to get it going right! There is also a patch to get it to run on XP.

YEAH! with wii controls! It seems a bit gimicky right now because there are so many button combinations along with gestures, but I like that idea for 2 reasons.

1. More sweet moves that take a while to master "hence replay value"
2. It will take skill to kick ass at the game! IPPO!

I suggest you watch the anime, and the theme song is just so kick ass.

IPhone Unlocked Drunkeness and MSG

As many of you know the iphone has been unlocked and now eBay is flooded with unlocked iphones. There seems to be soooo many with no reserve that you could actually score one for about $200 or below. I know it is crazy! Take a gander.

I also came across the "China" version of the iPhone. Turns out you can get this cheap clone for around +$100. The question I ask is... how long till snoz breaks down and gets one of these? I would like one, but I have a non-sim card carrier. That removes the fire from underneath my bottom! below is a video of the Chinese version of the phone.

MSG (mono sodium glutimate) gives me migraines. I need to wear my helmet.

A few quick tidbits:

- Bioshock is way too awesome. They completely captured the mood that was first made in System Shock 2 and created a gorgeous world that is ripe with loving detail and nuance.

- Metroid Prime 3 seems to be getting a lot of highly positive reviews around the interwebs. Target is a jerk and isn't selling it until tomorrow. Sucks to be you Target. Looks like you won't be getting my money.

- I'm finally attempting to play through the first Sly Cooper. So far, it's quite an easy game and I can ramp up the extra lives. Outside of that, I'm really enjoying it. One of the best platformers of the past generation. I hope they continue it on PS3.

Harry Potter: The Order of the Pheonix

I seen it yesterday with my fiancee`, Pasta, who surprisingly got us tickets for the IMAX 3-d version at Navy Pier in Chicago. I am always pumped about seeing films @ an IMAX b/c I love how my brain needs to process information differently when the film starts. It is just so massive, you feel a "click" inside as you begin to process the glory on the screen. The sound is also amazing and immersing b/c of the 15k watts surging in the theater. Well about the film.

We were given these bulky 3-d glasses that were made to fit all, but I heard kids QQ'ing about the glasses not fitting their heads, but the glasses fit comfortably over my glasses and made me feel sex-e. The film started interestingly enough in a playground with Harry's cousin "Big D" threatening to beat up Harry. Pasta turned to me and said this is way different than I expected. Pasta is an avid Potter connoisseur and knows much of the books by heart. Pasta also said the 3-d sort of sucks, and then told me she realized the objects fell back into the screen instead of popping out.

That is something I have known through my research and love of 3-d. Most new types of 3-d glasses use a polarized sun glass lens to offset the images on the screen, so if you were wearing the 3-d glasses while watching a normal program that has the main characters in better light than the background, the shadows tend to fall back into the screen more than normal creating a false 3-d effect that is semi-satisfying. SCIENCE!

The film itself was interesting and quick paced. I did not feel lost by the story and enjoyed the idea of putting myself in the situation of the students. Umbridge is a twisted and corrupt woman that thankfully gets whats coming to her towards the climax of the film. The new editions to the film did an excellent job adding to the magical Potter world through excellent acting. Luna Lovegood was one of my favorite new characters because she has a strange charm about her that Harry shares. They have both seen someone die and it gives them the ability to see and hear things that the other people cannot.

Towards the excellent climax of the film a warning came up on the bottom of the screen to put on our 3-d glasses. Everyone was saying "WTF" for not knowing that the glasses should have not been worn till this point. The 3-d now kicked in full force! Let me tell you... it was pathetic. The darker the object was, the more it was split into 2 images. I was quite disappointed during an awesome battle seen against the Order and the Death Eaters. Right after someone dies... Harry runs after the Killer, Belatrix... only to be schooled by Voltimort who just paws Harry's wand away like a polar bear! I laughed pretty hard at it and kept doing it to Pasta when the film was over. Then PIZZOW! Ganindorf pops out of a fire and starts battling Bad V in awesome 3-d!!! The scene was very bright and the 3-d worked fantastic in this bright setting. It was so awesome and a very good battle. One point you think Ganandorf is winning, then you think V is winning, then Harry tries to help and Ganandorfs paws him away and I laughed some more, the Ganandorf does this awesome water thing against V and it looks like he is about to kick V's ass... BUT then V is just about to get blasted and he takes the power blast and just LAUGHS and does this HAHA thing with his body! SO COOL. They all this glass comes flying down and shoots towards Ganandorf and Harry and Ganan makes this sheild and turns the glass into nano-powders! HAHA!

Then Volt turns into sand but really didn't leave... HE IS JUST INSIDE OF HARRY! Harry says Volt you are teh suck b/c you don't have friends and Volt has to leave. Then the ministry of magic comes down and sees Volt standing in this power globe of death sand and says, "Dag, he is back!" The main point of the film is the world of magic is divided b/t Vold is really back and he is not really back.

I gave it a night to think about and decided this film is better than the last one of the goblet fire. I dug the dragon battle in that film. I was still confused about somethings b/c there were little holes in the film of why things were happening, but Pasta filled me in. Age of Conaan Gameplay Video

From what I could tell from the 6 minute video is that this is going to be a hardware intensive game. The colors and animations are crisp and clean at this beta stage, I am sure they are crunching on updated textures for their demo @ E3 this month. The video shows no HUD, so you can't really tell what is going on. All you can see is a warrior fighting other NPC's as well as a sorcerer casting the same spell over and over. Any updates I find will be posted in the comments.

SO MUCH ROBI!

Transformers the Movie is without a doubt the best movie I have ever SEEN!

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind. The film pushes it's PG-13 rating with plenty of mature material including a film about alien robots and a mom asking if she should call masturbation "Sam's happy time".
The film captivated me from the beginning. Evens Stevens actor Shailo kicked so much ass in the film. He completely filled the role of the Hero while fighting along side the beautiful robots. I was amazed by how far Computer Graphics had come. These effects were so life like it was difficult to step back into reality after the film. Optimus Prime got a sweet upgrade in terms of sweet flames and sweet truck parts. I noticed the parts of the film where they used a real truck Optimus Prime had a lot of tire shine on, but when CG Prime showed up the tires were dirtier. What a nerd observation! wow

The theater smelt a lot like anime and comic book conventions and of course there were the people that clapped at random parts. I will never understand clapping at a movie unless I was at a premier with creators of a film. I really hope they bring constructacons and the critters from Beast Wars in for a new film.

Oh and the movie has a twist I didn't see coming near the end! ALSO stick around through the end credits. DO A BARREL ROLL ^wink wink^

So, it seems like every news site is going all out with the iPhone, people are already in line for it outside the Apple stores, and the rates are already released. Every day Digg is flooded with topics involving the iPhone topping the most dugg stories each day. Even /. is getting hammered with new articles involving it. Entire websites are going to have to redesign so it is functional with it. But I have to ask, who cares? I know I don't.

I prefer 2D fighting games, and despite the hours I put into 3D fighters unlocking everything and getting like 11 Tekken Lords, I don't consider myself a serious 3D fighter. I remember ordering Tekken Dark Resurrection and reading somewhere about it not having endings before even getting it in the mail.

Well, it was a busy year for video games, so it just kinda sat around for the past like 10 months or whatever. Now, I haven't been playing too many games lately (Couldn't get into Wario: Master of Disguise but DID just start Dragon Quest 8 which I've had sitting around for a year and a half already) but all these pics of Tekken 6 have rekindled my interest. So, I picked it back up.

To my surprise, it actually DOES have all the endings, PLUS endings for the 3 new characters!!! Cool!! Turns out the downloadable PS3 version doesn't have a lot of the features that the PSP one has, either.

Gonna be killin' a lot of time with this one this summer. ...Then forget all the special moves and combos by the time the next one comes out, like I always do.

New PSP Details! and finding a current 1st gen PSP since the price drop

Kotaku just ran a story about a new 2nd gen PSP. The 2nd gen PSP is using a LED screen. Most nerds know that LED's use minimal current to shine, so the 2nd gen hand held is rumored to have 4 times the battery life of the current model. It is also rumored to be much slimmer, have redesigned buttons, have 8 gigs of memory built in, and load much faster!
Hopefully with they can shoot for a price tag under $170 dollars to make this a serious competitor to Nintendo's DS Lite.


Finding a current Play Station Portable around the area I live in has been difficult.
I went to a couple big retail stores (Wal-Get = wal-mart and target) and the PSP was as scarce as a Wii! I was extremely surprised. It all must account to the recently announced price drop and the new marketing being done to make sure everyone knows that the PSP is now affordable! I assume that Sony priced the PSP lower to prepare for the launch of the 2nd version, and too allow retailers to move the current units to free up that valuable retail space.

Diabetics and Video Games

One of my good pals is a diabetic. And diabetics have to check their blood sugar often! and administer insulin! What if their blood sugar level checker was a video game that they had to beat every time in order to get life saving insulin? I am kidding, no matter if they win or lose they would still get the correct reading and be able to administer the correct dosage. Just soemthing I was pondering.

RACE

You guys remember that game on the TI-82 where you guide the little "v" left and right through the "I's" and after a certain amount of time it gets to the point where you can't break concentration without hitting a wall? Well, I just remembered the time I played that game for over 30 minutes straight without blinking to hit a score of 27702. A friend of mine boasted to our entire Algebra 2 class the following day about how he beat my amazing score... then (much) later confessed to cheating with the calculator. The End.

Le Session

Finally TOM figures out how to post a blog. Took me long enough with all the displays being in Japanese and my internet constantly shutting down lately. So I should have something well-prepared by now, right? Well, I don't. But I did get really high before sitting down to write this so... I guess what I'm trying to say is... I ate ALL the gummi cola ;)

Introduction:

The term "Tom Session" dates back as far as college (after I was done with class but when I was still kinda just chillin' on campus) when my roommates and friends finally figured out what to call the way I play video games. Long. Intense. Insane.

Longest? 30 STRAIGHT hours on DBZ Budokai 3. People have died from playing 40. I sat all day in my boxers with a box of cereal. The way Alex tells it, I went to bed at like 4:30 in the afternoon? I'll just take his word for it. I probably didn't even know what day it was.

Feats worth mentioning? Maxing out everyone's STATS in Chrono Trigger on SNES, getting ALL the endings for every racer in F-Zero GX, ALL trophies in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Defeating Bass in Mega Man: Network Transmission (whoa, lotsa hard Gamecube Games!), Completing all Challenges in KoF XI, Unlocking Proto Man and beating EVERY stage Capcom created for Mega Man: Powered Up (as well as every 2D Mega Man game ever released), getting 100% on Yoshi's Island DS, and ALL 108 characters in all 5 Suikoden games, just to name the first few that come to mind. When I unlocked Proto Man, I treated myself to a nice steak dinner!

I also was really into Punch-Out!! I remember beating Nintendo Power's knockout time for Super Punch-Out!!'s last boss "Nick Bruiser!"

More series I've dominated (other than Mega Man) include most (possibly all) things Mario, Kirby, 2D Metroid, and every Zelda game except for Twilight Princess (someday). RPG's I like include FF 1, 2, and 4-9, Lunar 1-2, Lufia 1-3, Breath of Fire 1-4, Xenogears, Alundra, Wild Arms 1-2, Seiken Densetsu 1-2 ("Mana" games), and again, Chrono Trigger and Suikoden 1-5 (and Tactics). Fighting games I'm into include The King of Fighters, Street Fighter, and Samurai Spirits (Shodown). Other stuff I'm into include River City Ransom and Katamari.

I've been slowing down on video games a lot lately, though but this sabbatical will end once any of the following come out: KoF MI: Reg A (English?), Mega Man ZX Advent, Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass, FF Tactics: The War of the Lions, DBZ BT 3, KoF 98 Ultimate Match, Samurai Spirits Sen and KoF XII.

These are the things in life I look forward to. The rest is what I'm most proud of. I'm Tom and this has been a session. I also like drinking Sparks and playing iToy (Sparks = PLURAL).

Turns Out I know this man...

Sometimes he shows up for parties or dinner parties.
His name is Will. He calls himself Cardcaptor Will, but to me and my friends we call him cardcaptor blackura.
Now I love anime, and I invented Cereal Robots. But.. Will blows my mind! He ends up getting free trips to be a guest or sometimes host anime conventions.
According to Will, he is going to be a guest at Otaku Omaha. So if you live in Nebraska, stop out and see Cardcaptor Will, and tell him JRocK sent you.

In Regards To Ultra Mini Golf and Ass Blasters

Holy hell, I never thought I'd talk about 3D Ultra Mini Golf again. TUMG (I am NOT going to retype that damn name 30 flippin times...) was a quirky game that my family would play way back in the day on PC. My family had a number of games that we would play (or that I would watch) that I remember fondly. My mom would play Jeopardy and would yell at Alex Trebek when, even though she got the answer correct, he would smugly reply that she was incorrect due to the fact that the computer was a stingy little bastard who wanted you to know that it was either his way or the highway in regards to how your question in the form of an answer was written. She'd swear and bang her fist on the desk, "EAT SHIT ALEX! I GOT IT RIGHT! FUCK YOU!"

I'd like to believe that's where I get my video game rage from, but I know it mainly stems from my brother handing me my ass as an origami swan in Tecmo Super Bowl time and time again.

My mom, brother and I would also play You Don't Know Jack all the time, and like most of my family activities, it would usually end in a full contact assault to try and get the fastest finger questions and jack attacks (I'll tell you this, my mom can throw the 'bows). One game even my dad would jump in on was TUMG. The game was filled with some awesome (at the time that is) 3D animations as well as really nice stage design. Like JRocK mentioned earlier, each hole had a different theme associated with it and the animations/pitfalls that one could fall/roll into reflected this. It's sad that I don't remember the game ALL that well (hell, I'm lucky I can remember to take my pants off first before I take a shit), I do remember having a blast with that game.

Shame it's being given away at Taco Bell. I'm not the biggest fan of paying for ass blasters.

Taco Bell Free Trials:

I just received a fresh email from Sierra Insider telling me to go to Taco Bell. Normally I go there for tacos and stomach pains. Here is what the email has to say:

Beowulf?

I am not sure how many of you read this excellent book in high school. Now I am not much of a reader, but for some reason this story kept me wanting more. In a sense it was my Harry Potter. While in high school, I was paired up with some buddies that were also musicians to make a film for English class about a scene from Beowulf. We decided to make a song instead and I remember singing on it, it was a master piece that needs to be unearthed!

I did some digging and found an article on Kotaku.com about Beowulf the game and how it is going to use direct elements from the film! Ubisoft is developing the project.
